Start a guided workflow in OneSignal AI with one command. A skill is a workflow that OneSignal AI follows from start to finish, such as an account audit or a message translation. Most skills read your account data first and return their result in the same layout each time.
Skills are in beta and are rolling out gradually. If the Skills menu does not appear in OneSignal AI, skills are not available in your account yet. If the menu shows No skills enabled, no skills are available to you yet, or you turned them all off.

Prerequisites

  • Access to OneSignal AI. AI features must be turned on for your organization.

Available skills

Use these commands in OneSignal AI:

Use a skill

1

Open OneSignal AI

2

Choose a skill

Click the + button (Use skills, routines, and more) under the message box, open Skills, and select a command. You can also type / in the message box to see a list of skills. Use the arrow keys to select a skill and press Enter.
3

Add details and send

The command goes into the message box. Add details after it, for example /localize my Summer Sale template into Spanish and German, and press Enter.
OneSignal AI shows Used skill in the conversation when it uses a skill. OneSignal AI can also use a skill without a command when your request matches it. For example, “audit my account” can start the Account Health Check.

What each skill does

Use this section to choose the right skill for your task.

/setup: Guided Setup

Use /setup to set up a new app, platform, or channel, or to fix a setup error. OneSignal AI reads your current setup first and continues from the step you are on. /setup supports Android, iOS, web push, frameworks such as Flutter and React Native, and email. Setup has five steps: app, platform credentials, SDK install, permission prompt, and verification. OneSignal AI marks setup as done only when a real device receives a test message. You upload credentials in the dashboard forms, not in the chat.

/audit: Account Health Check

Use /audit when your messages reach fewer people than you expect, or when you want a general health check. OneSignal AI checks only the channels your app uses. The checks include platform credentials, subscriber growth and churn, delivery rates, email bounces and spam reports, SMS opt-outs, active journey audiences, and disabled webhooks. The result is a fix list in two parts: Fix first for critical problems and Next for warnings. Each finding includes evidence from your account. If a check cannot run, OneSignal AI names the check that did not run. The audit does not change your account.

/critique: Push Message Review

Use /critique to get feedback on push copy. The copy can be pasted text, the push draft or template open in the editor, a saved draft or template, or a recent notification. OneSignal AI runs OneSignal’s message checks, for example length, deep links, Liquid syntax, and button labels. It then shows a verdict, the findings, and rewrites for the flagged lines. When the push draft or template editor is open, OneSignal AI can apply the rewrites to the editor after you confirm. You review the changes and click Save. When you have a Brand Kit, the rewrites follow your brand voice. /critique supports push only.

/inspect: Push Settings Check

Use /inspect to find push settings that do not match across your templates and recent pushes. OneSignal AI compares launch URLs and deep links, iOS interruption level, time to live (TTL), collapse ID, custom data, priority, and Android channel. OneSignal AI finds the pattern your app uses and then flags the templates and messages that are different. OneSignal AI checks up to 20 templates and your 50 most recent pushes. If you have more templates, OneSignal AI tells you how many it checked. You can name templates, or filter by name or platform, to check others. /inspect does not change your templates. It tells you which field to change and the value to set.

/localize: Message Translation

Use /localize to translate a push or SMS message into more languages, or to make one edit across all existing language versions. The source can be pasted text, a template, or a recent draft or notification. OneSignal AI uses the languages you name. If you do not name languages, it uses the languages that are already on the template, or the languages in your Brand Kit. The result is a length check for each language and the translated copy. Names, numbers, dates, URLs, and Liquid tags such as {{first_name}} stay the same in each language. When the push or SMS template editor is open, OneSignal AI can apply the translations to the editor after you confirm. For pasted text, it can create a new template. /localize does not support email.

/program: Campaign Design

Use /program to turn a business goal into a complete campaign, for example “recover trial abandoners” or “design an onboarding series”. You can also paste a full campaign specification. OneSignal AI reads your segments, tags, custom events, templates, and journeys first, so the plan uses data your app already has. The plan includes the goal, the success metric, the entry audience and its size, the message sequence, A/B splits and branches, and exit rules. OneSignal AI creates nothing until you confirm the plan. Then it creates any segments that are missing, and asks you to confirm each one. Last, it creates a journey draft that you review and activate yourself.

Manage skills

Turn off the skills that you do not use. A skill that is off does not appear in the Skills menu or in the / list. OneSignal AI can still use the skill when your request matches it.
1

Open Manage skills

Click + under the message box, then select Skills > Manage skills. You can also type / and click Manage skills.
2

Turn skills on or off

Use the switch next to each command, then click Close.
Skill settings apply to the current app in the current browser only. They do not change the settings for other members of your organization.

FAQ

Why don’t I see the Skills menu?

Skills are in beta and are not available in every account yet. OneSignal AI must also be turned on for your organization. See Turn OneSignal AI on or off.

Can a skill send messages or change my account without asking?

No. Skills follow the same rules as OneSignal AI: OneSignal AI does not send messages, and it asks you to confirm before it creates anything. /audit and /inspect only read your data. /critique and /localize apply changes to an open editor only after you confirm, and you save the changes yourself.

Do I need to type a command to use a skill?

No. OneSignal AI can use a skill when your request matches it, for example “translate this push into French”. A command makes sure OneSignal AI uses that skill.

Can I use a skill for email?

Partially. /audit checks email delivery, and /setup covers email domain setup. /program can plan email steps in a campaign. /critique, /inspect, and /localize support push messages, and /localize also supports SMS.

Can I use more than one command in a message?

Yes. Add each command to the message, for example /critique /localize. OneSignal AI uses each skill you add.
