Why is the EU-US Data Privacy Framework important?

The Framework provides EU individuals whose data would be transferred to participating companies in the US with several new rights (e.g. to obtain access to their data, or obtain correction or deletion of incorrect or unlawfully handled data). In addition, it offers different redress avenues in case their data is wrongly handled, including before free of charge independent dispute resolution mechanisms and an arbitration panel.This is particularly important for US companies who work with data on EU individuals as it proves there are safeguards in place in maintaining the rights afforded to EU individuals that are recognized by EU Commission. It maintains that handling and accessing data from outside the EU by certified companies is regulated and overseen by this joint agreement.
